St Peter's New Headteacher

16th June 2020

A short message from Mrs S. Parry who will be Headteacher of St Peter's from September 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians/Carers,

I am delighted to be writing to you as the newly appointed Headteacher of St Peter’s Catholic Primary school. I feel extremely honoured to have been chosen to continue and build upon the success the school has achieved under the leadership of Mrs Farrelly and privileged to be entrusted with the job of now leading such a fantastic school.

I have been a Teacher and Senior Leader in a number of schools during my 22 year career. From my current experience as Assistant Headteacher at Our Lady & St Edward’s Catholic Primary school in Birkenhead I know that a successful and happy school depends on us all working together and I am determined that the school builds on its legacy and continues to flourish and maintain its position at the heart of our community.

I am sure some parents and families are understandably nervous about the change in personnel and the impact this will have on standards and pupils at St Peter’s. I am a wife and parent to three children: Joseph (20), Meg (17) and Jack (11), therefore I understand that changes can affect how children feel about school. I also cannot write to you today without acknowledging the world we are currently living in. Our children are understandably having to assimilate different routines, unique anxieties and new normals. Their worlds have been turned on their heads and I anticipate that our emergence from this current situation will present wide ranging consequences. Please be reassured that St Peter’s will remain a consistent - the expectations of all staff will be as high as they were before, our Catholic ethos will continue to focus on honesty, respect and a caring family atmosphere and any changes to routines will be in the best interest of the children.

As the leader of our school, my main job is to ensure your child is safe, happy and achieving their potential. I hold a strong belief in the power of education to change children’s lives and the right of every child to receive an excellent education. I am dedicated to building opportunities for students to reach for the stars, ensuring that they are known well as individuals and that their unique personalities, talents and interests are nurtured and developed to the full. A St Peter’s education is about developing the whole child and providing opportunities for them to flourish within and beyond the classroom. It remains the aim of the whole school team to help each child become a successful learner and well-rounded individual who is ready to make the next steps in their journey.

From my experience I know that a successful and happy school depends on us all working together and, as key educators in your children’s lives, I feel it is important that you feel you have a voice and that as a school we are approachable. I hope that once we are able to return to some kind of normality we can hold a number of events which will provide the opportunity to meet you all and share more of my vision for the future of our school family.

I look forward to watching your children grow in confidence, knowledge and spirituality during their time at St Peter’s and will thank you in advance for the support you will give all members of our school community as we emerge into this new chapter.

Yours Sincerely

Mrs Sarah Parry
